Juniors Headed For Bristol
June 30, 2009
The NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League 2009 Eastern Conference Finals are coming up on July 9-11 in Bristol, Tennessee, and we have another strong team to represent Summit Motorsports Park in that event. In the past two years, one of our teams has placed in the top five by the time the event was concluded. Could this be the year we take top honors? It certainly possible with the caliber of racers that we’re sending south! We want to make sure that all of our racers have what they need to compete.
To that end, any junior that still needs to have an extended tech inspection performed on their car, may have it done this Sunday, July 5th from 10am to 3pm. Despite the fact that we’re not holding any races or test’n tune this holiday weekend; the track will be open this Sunday for inspection purposes. If you are the crew chief on one of the teams that is still in need of this service, please be sure to have it completed on Sunday!
Both teams from Summit Motorsports Park will consist of 10 members. Team One members include Cameron Karnik, Annie Kordeleski, Dylan Northrup, Tom Summers, Sonsee Trubach, Taylor Zietlow, Matt Dadas, Ashley Devine, Jamie Devine, and Lauren Dadas. Team two will consist of Jaeden Durst, Brandon Bennett, Spenser Lacy, Nikolette Schroeder, Taylor Young, Michael Collier, Nick Moss, Lee Newmeyer, Heather Saalman, and Kayla Young.
Each junior must be a member of NHRA prior to the event. Juniors will not be able to renew their memberships on site due to a new requirement for medical certification. Questions should be directed to the NHRA Field Office at 626-914-4761.
This year’s theme is “Mardi Gras”. We will be ordering decorations for the stands and theme related family t-shirts will be available for purchase. Participants are welcome to bring items to decorate the golf carts and trailers. Each team member will receive a T-shirt.
The day-to-day schedule for the 2009 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals has been finalized, and it will follow the same format as last year’s affair. Bristol will first open its gates for Eastern Conference Finals activities on Monday, July 6, which will be a track-hosted test and tune day. Tuesday and Wednesday will feature the Thunder Valley Challenge events. Wednesday will also include a Welcome Party in the evening. The Eastern Conference Finals officially kicks off Thursday with two time-trial runs for all competitors. Friday will feature one final time-trial run in the morning with the first round of eliminations that afternoon. Eliminations will conclude Saturday.
We wish the best for every one of our juniors. We have a great team and a tough bunch of racers. Some of the team members are old veterans of this event, so they know the ropes. Help each other along. There’s strength in teamwork! Good luck to all of you and thanks for making us proud once again in 2009!
