Ten Grand Nationals Day One
August 29, 2008
Wall to wall transporters and staging lanes full of race cars is what we have here today for the opening round of the Probell Ten Grand Nationals presented by American Race Cars. You wouldn’t ordinarily think of having this much action this early on a Friday morning, but this race is certainly bringing out the best of the sportsman racers! This is one of the best races of the year for the sportsman crowd and it appears that it’s no secret! We invite you to come out and watch the best sportsman racers in the Midwest here this weekend. We’ll be here to keep you up to speed if you can’t join us.
1:30 - The diversity of the cars entered in this race up to this point is striking! Given the range of elapsed times that we're seeing, it's obvious that there are a lot of racers here who have absolute confidence in their ability to dial in correctly then hit the mark on every pass. There's not a thing wrong with that!
3:30 - The turnout today is genuinely historic. This is the largest Friday car count in the history of the Ten Grand Nationals! Considering that this is just the first day of this three day event, it could have interesting ramifications for the rest of the weekend. This is turning into the hottest venue for the weekend this side of Indy!
5:30 - The only rain cloud in the entire northern half of Ohio has parked itself directly over Summit Motorsports Park! Fortunately, it can't last long, so we should be back racing as soon as we get the track dried off. Ironically, we had just started the day's eliminations when the rain hit. We'll be back.
9:00 - We've been back to racing for a while now after an extensive track drying session. The temperature hasn't dropped very much since this afternoon, but the humidity has raised dramatically. We'll have to see how it effects the tune up on the racecars this evening. Needless to say, we'll be racing well into the night to get this race run tonight, but we will get it in!
